FLAVOR

HICKORY SALT: Slowly smoked above a real hickory wood fire, our sea salt packs a punch when it comes to genuine smoke flavor. Try it in rubs, chilis, and stews, on burgers, chicken, and ribs, or create your own unique barbeque sauce blend that tastes straight out of Kansas City.

RED ALAEA SALT: Alaea salt derives its name from the red alaea volcanic clay which the unrefined sea salt is mixed with. It is harvested from Pacific waters using traditional methods of solar evaporation which allows the crystals to form when it is mixed with the Hawaiian volcanic clay. Red alaea salt is processed naturally by hand and is one of the most sought-after natural salts in the world. The salt ponds on the Western side of the Hawaiian island of Kauai are an ancient harvesting place for red alaea salt.

It is this clay which gives it not only its name but its extraordinary red color and it is a valuable source of digestible iron and other trace minerals that are so good for the body. The salt has a fine grain, and you can also purchase it in a course grain. When you buy it in a glass jar it has a shelf life of ten years so you can keep it and use it for a long time after purchase. It may sound strange to eat a crystal salt mixed with clay, but the clay adds no taste or smell to the red alaea salt although it does add a very pleasant flavor to food. It is the Hawaiian clay which enriches the salt with iron-oxide which is a great asset to your health.

Not only is the Red Alaea salt ideal for seasoning food, it has extraordinary nutritional value as it actually encourages a healthy cell fluid balance. These are just a few of the 80 naturally occurring trace minerals in red alaea salt.

  1. Iron
  2. Magnesium
  3. Calcium
  4. Chloride
  5. Fluoride
  6. Iron
  7. Potassium
  8. Sodium

BLACK LAVA SALT: Once evaporated from the Pacific waters, the salts contain just 84% sodium chloride (the stuff that makes salt salty). Whereas, regular table salt, super-heated and processed, is 99% sodium chloride! The remaining 16% in our black lava salt is naturally occurring electrolytes and minerals - the stuff our body is really craving when we gravitate towards the chips.

Is Hawaiian lava salt really made with lava?

Hawaiian black salt is also known as black lava salt, but it really contains no lava, though it's easy to see how the romantic name has stuck (Hawaii already has black sand beaches and active volcanos)! The startling black color comes from being infused with activated coconut shell charcoal which, combined with the therapeutic effects of the salt, creates a detoxifying blend.

If you're going to season with salt, why not get the benefit of added minerals?!

When used topically as a scrub, it can increase circulation, draw out impurities and toxins from the body, and improve the condition of the skin.

How to Use

Sprinkle on your favorite foods to desired taste. Or add ¼ cup to the bath for a detoxifying soak.
